Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust

Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust serves 12,800 students, predominantly within Catholic communities in the Diocese of Middlesbrough. Their ethos is shaped by Catholic values, emphasizing spiritual growth, moral development, and academic excellence.

With 6 secondary and 32 primary schools, Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust provides a supportive and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to live out their faith while achieving their full potential academically and personally.

At our head office, we have a team of 5 full-time equivalents. Led by our Head of Data, Nick Doy, who oversees all data staff, sets strategic vision, manages data architecture, and oversees analytical output. Supporting them are two Senior Data Analysts responsible for primary and secondary analysis, reporting to their respective Standards leads and other central department leads.

Additionally, we have a Data Analyst handling school queries, Census QA, and MIS support, and an Operations Analyst managing NPCAT’s ETL processes, Power BI Semantic Model, user access, and automation projects.

In our academies, primary schools receive biannual visits from the Primary Senior Analyst but have no on-site staff. Secondary schools typically have 1 or 2 Exam and Data Officers managing census, MIS queries, and exam processes, reporting centrally to the Senior Data Analyst and having a line to the school SLT Assessment Lead.

We use Arbor as our MIS provider, a system adopted since September 2020, after previously using SIMS, ScholarPack, and Bromcom.
